“We will not give in to fear or turn against each other”

Today, in Orlando…more murder…on the eve of the anniversary of last summer’s demonstration that Grace trumps evil in Charleston, South Carolina.

As President Obama said today,

In the coming hours and days, we’ll learn about the victims of this tragedy. Their names. Their faces. Who they were. The joy that they brought to families and to friends, and the difference that they made in this world. Say a prayer for them and say a prayer for their families—that God give them the strength to bear the unbearable. And that He give us all the strength to be there for them, and the strength and courage to change. We need to demonstrate that we are defined more—as a country—by the way they lived their lives than by the hate of the man who took them from us.

Remember, in the words of Lewis McHenry Howe and echoed by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, that “the only thing we have to fear, is fear.” That is the Only power evil has, that of instilling fear in us.

Resist. Fight back with resolute faith that God prevails. Christ was Victorious over death and evil. Grace wins…every day.

One year ago this Friday, nine people were murdered in an attempt to spread evil. Evil failed. Evil will continue to fail as I remember…

As God is my witness, I shall not hate.

In the Name of Jesus…In the blessed blood of the Lamb…protect yourselves and your loved ones and Rejoice that God is Good.

Thanks be to God and to God be the Glory.

  1. Beautiful, Kitsy. I pray with all my heart there will not be Christians who see this as “divine retribution for sins.” I pray with all my heart we only see this as a horrible act of hatred, of terror, of one person’s twisted mind taking out his twisted logic on 103 people, 50 of whom are dead. Let us pray in grace, and be united in love, and let us see this for what it is – an act of a coward.
